Julian Röder (born 1981),
was born in Erfurt, and grew up in Berlin. After an apprenticeship as a photographer at the agency OSTKREUZ he studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in Leipzig. 2009, he graduated with a diploma under the supervision of Prof. Ute Mahler at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. Since 2001 he is pursuing the long-term documentation project 'The Summits' wherein he is picturing protests at the edges of the security zones of state summits. His works have been widely published and exhibited. In 2003 he was a student at the Joop Swart Masterclass of the World Press Photo Foundation. In 2004 he became a member of the agency OSTKREUZ and received the Kodak Young Talent Award. He lives in Berlin.
